Minimally Invasive Surgery
Orthopedic surgery used to mean spending several days in a hospital and weeks in recovery. The surgeon made long incisions that cut through muscle. Today, many procedures can be done with tiny incisions, known as minimally invasive surgery.
Using advanced technology, surgeons make small incisions and use video equipment to see a magnified view of the surgical site. Tiny instruments are used to perform the surgery through the incisions. This may lead to minimal scarring, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and quicker recoveries.*
Services
Orthopedic services at Spring Valley Hospital include:
Arthroscopic Surgery
We can perform arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hand, elbow, knee and ankle. Arthroscopic surgery involves making a small incision and then using pencil-sized instruments to magnify the structures inside the joint. The camera attached to the arthroscope enables the surgeon to see the cartilage and ligaments and then determine the extent of the injury and how to best repair it.
Joint Replacement
Total hip or knee replacement involves replacing diseased joint cartilage with artificial materials. Joint cartilage is a tough, smooth tissue that covers the ends of bones where the joints are located. It enables joints to move with minimal friction.
If you need total knee or hip replacement surgery, we are here to help get you back on your feet. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission for its Gold Seal of Approval® for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. To earn certification, we comply with all high standards and meet strict performance measures.
Spine Surgery
We perform many surgeries including surgery for a compressed or pinched nerve in the neck, surgery to remove a herniated disc, surgery to relieve spinal stenosis, and spinal fusion surgery to stabilize the vertebrae and alleviate severe, chronic back pain.
Sports Medicine
Sports medicine specialists at Spring Valley Hospital help patients make a full recovery from sports injuries so they are able to resume their daily activities and return to the sport of choice as they are ready and able.
